A user from Europe wants to access HBO GO in Singapore via a traditional Smart DNS:
The stream is not geoprotected so the traditional Smart DNS will just let the HBO CDN deliver the stream.
Most likely the CDN has an arrangement with your ISP, so the stream will be delivered to you from your own ISP.
The problem is that the movie you want to watch isn't cached at your ISP, so your ISP has to fetch the movie from Singapore.
The result will be a 512kBit/s stream with lots of packet loss (stops all the time).
SmartStreaming has a secret way of controlling how the CDN's deliver the content.
In this case we will force the CDN to deliver the content from USA where the movie is cached.
The result will be a 4 MBit/s steady stream.
